Baroness Thatcher Downing Street Portrait November 2009 On Monday 23 November, 2009, the Prime Minister Gordon Brown unveiled a new portrait of Lady Thatcher at No. 10 Downing Street. The portrait commemorates the historic nature and length of Lady Thatcher's premiership. It is the only painted portrait of a prime minister in No. 10's history to be commisssioned and then to hang in the house. Lady Thatcher considered it to be the best portrait painted of her and asked for a copy to be painted for her home.
