Ambassador Charles Price II
Oil on panel, 10 x 8 inches, 1986
Charles Price was the US Ambassador to Belgium before holding the post of Ambassador to the Court of St James’s from 1983 to 1989. He and his wife Carol undertook extensive redecoration at Winfield House, the Ambassador’s official residence.
Ambassador Price introduced me to Dudley Poplak, who was decorating some of the private rooms at Winfield House. Ambassador Price talked with pleasure of weekends spent with the Marquess and Marchioness of Tavistock at Woburn Abbey. Little did I realise that a few years later I too would become good friends with the Tavistocks.
