Lord Mayor of London Fiona Woolf
Oil on canvas, 48 x 36 inches, 2014
Alderman Fiona Woolf was elected as the 686th Lord Mayor of London in 2013. I had been charged by the Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers to paint her official portrait. As it happens, I painted Dame Mary Donaldson’s portrait thirty years previously, soon after she had been installed as the City of London’s first lady Lord Mayor.
The sittings took place at the Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor during the Winter of 2013 and the Spring of 2014.
